Elafonisi is actually an island, it consists of a lagoon and a sandbar. It has been named one of the world’s top 25 beaches. This beautiful pink sandy beach with the warm shallow waters is spectacular. Keep in mind that it can get very crowded so an early start is necessary. Elafonisi beach is located 75km west from Chania meaning it is about 1,5 hour drive. Although the road to get there is narrow and full of turns it is totally worth it. Follow the direction to Kissamos and check the signs out for directions. Once you get there you can park your car at the parking area and walk to the beach.
It is located 59km from Chania. It has won prizes for being the most beautiful beach in Crete has white sand and crystal clear waters. It is very well organised. However, when visitng Falassarna you must keep in mind that it is exposed to the winds and can have large waves. You can get there by taking the National Road to Kissamos, continue driving towards Platanos and follow the signs to Falassarna.
The most famous lagoon of Crete. It is a sandy beach with turqoise waters and a beautiful exotic scenery. The sea is very shallow and warm making it also ideal for families with children. To get there simply drive towards Kissamos to the port of Kissamos you can there park your rental car at the parking area and take the boat to Balos. Please note that driving directly to Balos is forbidden with a car rental as the road to get there is unpaved.
There is a magnificent lighthouse which is the oldest lighthouse in the world and has a height of 21 meters. Along the harbor you will view old buildings, lots of restaurants and cafes. The old harbor is located 14,7 km from Chania Airport and you can find many parking spots around the city.
